Dear Schuyler Families, Today we were notified of a possible child abduction in a nearby community. This was a situation that was unfolding with more information in a short amount of time. Thanks to our local police chief, and communication with the neighboring school district, we had reliable information. I chose to put our district in “Secure” mode to ensure our students and staff's safety. “Secure” is the practice of keeping everyone inside and only allowing people in the building, or exiting the building, while being closely monitored for safety. I want to thank everyone for your support and cooperation during this event. I will always err on the side of caution and safety when making these decisions. If you have any questions or concerns always feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Dr. Bret Schroder, Superintendent Schuyler Community Schools

Dear Schuyler Families and Students, I just spoke with the Omaha Weather Center regarding tonight and tomorrow’s weather. Tomorrow morning we will have fog but should not receive any of the freezing rain. At this time I am planning on a regular school day tomorrow. Dear Community Members, I want to thank everyone for your outpouring of support and generosity for our elementary school. This has definitely been a challenging time and I cannot thank our principals and staff enough for all their work and efforts during this time. I also want to thank our families for their understanding as this event has created challenges for them as well. We have been contacted by several people and community groups regarding donating funds to help with supplies, rebuilding, etc. I am pleased to report that our insurance carrier will be covering almost all of the damage and they have been great to work with during this time. The coverage also includes up to $100,000 of personal items owned by elementary staff. That said, if you still want to donate, Pinnacle Bank has set up a special account called the Elementary Rebuilding Fund. You can go to either of the Pinnacle Banks in Schuyler or the one in Columbus. Again, we have great coverage but if you are interested in donating this is the best way to do it. You can also contact Lori Kracl at Pinnacle Bank (402-352-2401) if you have any questions about the account. Again, thank you for your support! Sincerely, Dr. Bret Schroder, Superintendent Schuyler Community Schools
